Mission Call!

So I finally got my mission call. . . I will be serving in the Texas Fort Worth Mission! I will be teaching the gospel in Spanish and I leave on January 28!! When I got my call in the mail, I took it up to the Provo Temple where I opened it on the grass by myself. I wanted to be alone when I opened it because it has been something so personal to me, and I don't have any family up here. Right after I opened it I called my family and then I talked to a few friends. It was pretty cool. I didn't really know what to expect, so I was happy with it, but to be completely honest, I really wasn't all that excited about it. I think that I may have just been in shock or something like that because I was numb for a while. Today has been better though. I had a good time at church today, and I've called more friends and family so that has really helped alot.
Haha right now I'm currently watching my roommate Mikell and my boyfriend Jared (who happens to be Mikell's brother, haha I sure know how to pick um!) play guitar hero. Jared said that he was going to blog stalk me, so if you are reading this Jared, be sure to comment so I can rail you about it later! :) Anyway, earlier tonight we were over at some girls apt in our ward playing this charades game. Can I just say that it was freakin hilarious! I got stuck with the word "Gandoff" like I really know how to impersonate Gandoff without being able to make any noise. I tried show it by pretending to blow things up with my invisible staff, but that didn't work. So then I  started pointing to my feet and pulling my hair down by my feet (because Hobbits have hairy feet of course!) and finally a girl on my team guessed Gandoff, it was pretty funny!
I seriously just love all the girls in my ward. They are so great! We had a relief society retreat thingy this weekend and it was so much fun! We went up to a cabin and played guitar hero, and did other fun stuff. We all were laughin and having a good time, I loved it! Hopefully I'll continue to meet some new people and make more friends here.
Well that's about all that is going on. This next week I have three tests of doom that I need to take! I'm not looking forward to them at all, but at this point I just don't really care all that much anymore, I've got other things on my mind and school is just not too fun!

I Hiked a Mountain!

Well I'm not sure what got into me and my roommate Kristi, but last week we decided that we wanted to hike Mt. Timpanogos. . . I know, we are crazy!! We recruited two other people, Jared and our other friend Alyse, so on Saturday morning around 1 AM we started our insane adventure of doom!!! The trail from the bottom to the summit is about 8 miles long, so we planned on taking 4-5 hours to get up, we left so early because we wanted to make it to the summit by sunrise.
Anyway the beginning of the hike was fairly uneventful and consisted of many switchbacks that threatened to kill my legs! First of all, I'm way out of shape and secondly, those switchbacks were steep! But we finally made it to the base of the last cliff. Our trust tour guide Jared decided that to get up to the summit we would have to hike up a couple of glaciers, since that was the way that he got up when he hiked Mt. Timp. last year. Little did we know that hiking a freaking glacier would be so much dang trouble!
We started up the first one, and it wasn't that steep, so we were able to get up with no trouble. The second one however, was extremely steep. . . according to my mathematical expertise I'd guess it was about a 45 degree slope on that baby!! (okay I don't know if it was really that steep, but it was probably pretty close!) After going up part of it, we realized that there was no way we were going to be able to make it to the top, so we started crossing it to get to the edge where there were rocks that seemed to be more stable. As we started climbing up the rocks though the kept sliding down and it was actually kinda scary. Well considering I am a weird girl, and I love adventurous stuff, climbing up a steep glacier and working our way up sliding rocks was pretty fun! For Kristi and Alyse it was different. They got pretty scared and they were kind of freaking out, which I don't blame them since it was dark outside, we couldn't see very well with our flashlights, and technically if you fell you'd slide down the glacier of doom and hit into sharp pointy rocks at the bottom! Anyway, Jared and I helped the other two get up to a big boulder that was stable and we all huddled together since it was dark, windy, and FREEZING!! Alyse ended up calling 911 because she was worried that we wouldn't be able to get down. I thought it was kinda crazy, but I wasn't going to try to stop her because she was on the verge of a having a nervous breakdown! So she calls them up and tells them that we were stuck on glacier, and they told her to have us stay there and they would put the search and rescue team on call. It was like straight out of a movie I tell ya! "Four college students stranded on an icy glacier with no way out. . . One wrong move and they could fall to their death!" haha it was all just kinda crazy!
Well we stayed on our boulder until the sun came up and we could see that we would probably be able to make it down safely. So we called the search and rescue team and told them that we would were going to try to make it down ourselves and that we would call them again at the bottom to let them know we were safe. To make a long story short, we made it to the bottom of the glacier (after a good hour and a half!) and then we got down the rest of the mountain just fine. It was the a pretty adventurous trip, but it was also alot of fun!! I probably won't do it again for a while, but I do want to make it to the summit, so I'll for sure be climbing in the future at some point.
That's about it though, our crazy hike of doom! I'll post pictures later cause I gotta go to church now!

Back at the Y!

Well I finally got back to Provo about a week and a half ago. So far it has been pretty sweet, I love my new place and my roomies, they are the best!!! I live with my friends Kristi and Mikell, we all met last year when we lived in the same ward, and considering we all spent time at each other's apartments last year that it would just be easier if we lived together this year. I've got a dang good feeling about this semester, I think it's going to be awesome! I can't wait to meet more people in our ward, everybody seems to be pretty cool, especially the girls. I'll admit, we haven't met too many dudes yet, although we did get out to play Rock Band with some guys last night so that was fun! Kell has an older brother named Jared and we've mostly just been hangin out with his apartment. Haha, I've pretty much corrupted everybody around me cause I've gotten them hooked on Guitar Hero. I'm seriously so freakin obsessed it's crazy!!! I bought a PS2 this summer and I have 4 GH games. I just got GH 3 and it took me all of 4 days to beat the entire game. . . I'm going to have to work on my self control here pretty quick cause school will be taking up more time, but for now I'm going to enjoy shredding as much as possible!!!!
Let's see. . . school is going pretty well so far. I have alot of classes with friends which will really help when it comes to homework and all that. I'm taking 3 Math classes (sucks to be a Math Ed major!!) 2 Secondary Ed classes and then a Doc & Cov class, I know it's pretty boring but I'm really close to being done and I don't really have too much time to screw around anymore like I used to do.
Everything is really good though. I still don't have my mission call yet, which is kinda frustrating, but it'll come sometime soon so it's all good. I kinda miss STG, at least I miss my family, but I actually really like living up here (Don't worry Weave, I'm not turning into a Zoobie!)
Anyway, thats about it, I hope that everybody reading this is doing well. . . If Emily is reading this then you'd better get on Gmail and write me an email, cause you have been slacking bad!
